TumblWeed is the desktop counterpart for the fabulous blogging service Tumblr. It’s built an Adobe AIR application which means you get all of the Tumblr functionality and more right on your desktop. For Mac PC and certain distros of Linux.

TumblWeed is a desktop client for the wonderful Tumblr service which allows users to view posts and create new ones from their desktop. TumblWeed supports most features on Tumblr as well as allowing photos posts from webcams, clipboards, or drag-and-dropping. It works on both Windows and Mac

The author David Merino has done a great job with this application but there are a few things you don’t have. One is a WYSIWYG editor although that could be fixed.

There is no feature for editing existing posts in the app and it launches a web browser window, so not a full desktop experience.

Another future addition would be the ability to get a feed of other people’s posts that you follow in the home screen.

On the home screen you can choose to display between 10 and 50 posts at the same time, in increments of 10. In addition you can t=filter this display by post type, very useful if you want to look for a particular audio post etc.

Design Eye

It looks a lot like the Tumblr website so it immediately start to engage existing users of the site and makes them feel at home with the TumblWeed application.

You can’t change the size of the window, which is quite frankly a bit annoying and a friend of mine who was trying out TumblWeed found it an immediate turn off for the app.

The custom chrome looks nice and fits well with the Tumblr brand and image.
