Reviewed Showcase App
Posty
August 06th 2008 | by James
Posty has been around the AIR community for a while now. The developers built Posty to fill a shortfall of the main short message services that we all use on a daily basis – that is sending a single post to more than one service at a time.
Posty requires you to enter your login info for each service you require. These include Twitter, FriendFeed, Pownce, Jakiu, Tumblr and now Identi.ca.
Now you can write a post, check the services you want to send the post too and then send. Simple. You can also check your own and other posts for the many services. Although you will not be getting the advanced functionality like you get on Twhirl, or TweetDeck.
The app worked well and it’s simplicity is nice. One small observation would be that when you choose a service that you are not logged into you get a message saying ‘Insert your login data in the Settings tab’. Guys could you just place the login panel in this view directly? Would make the start up experience a little smoother.
What are you experiences and views of Posty?
Design eye
The app is nice and useable with the ability to set slightly different colours for your viewing pleasure. Although a background change would be nice, the black and white can be quite stark after a while.
Technical eye
Built using the various API’s for the services listed. I believe the app is built using Adobe Flex3 and ActionScript.
