Adobe AIR 1.5.1 is released

This update fixes a number of issues including the annoying Shift + space bug that has been the plague of messages on Twitter for a while now.

There is also a couple of new methods including a one for knowing if the user launched the application or it was launched on system startup. To take advantage of these new methods you will have to change you Application Descriptor File to use Adobe AIR 1.5.1.

So get out there and grab yourself the latest AIR version : http://get.adobe.com/air/

Adobe AIR marketplace relaunched

Adobe have released an update their AIR marketplace. The new update is a lot more on brand and is now instantly recognisable as an Adobe site. A cleaner interface with dynamic AJAX effects offer another way of getting Adobe AIR apps.

Just like here on RefreshingApps.com you can vote and see the highest rated apps.

Interestingly RefreshingApps.com is going to be evolving over the coming months. It’s early days and things are currently in development on a whole new custom platform.

Learn Adobe Flex in a week with free video tutorials

If your new to developing with Adobe Flex or you’ve not had the chance to learn on the Flex devnet site you can now learn Flex in a week with a series of video tutorials and exercises.

So if you don’t have Flex download the free trial version and give the course a go. You might set aside sometime in your lunch break or maybe after work you will be surprised to see how much you will learn.

Once you have the Flex basics you are well on your way to creating some really cool AIR apps!

New open source debugger for Flex, Flash and AIR

There is a new open source debugging tool for Flex, Flash and AIR called De MonsterDebugger. Built in Flex and AIR by design studio De Monster it looks really interesting.

It is stacked with features including live editing, detailed tracing, FDT templates and you don’t need the Adobe debug player. So download it today and give it a go over at http://www.monsterdebugger.com
